Since my last blog entry, we have attended the Tuesday night potluck, the Wednesday night motivational meeting with sandwiches and cookies and rushed around getting ready to come home on Friday (for the weekend only for Al - until Wednesday morning for me). Sandwiches at the Wed. night meeting are interesting. They have egg salad, tuna or chicken salad, and peanut butter & jelly. This week they added a cheese and avacado. When we eat there, we eat pretty much like 7th Day Adventists as they run the hospital.
Al has had later night appointments for his treatments so far, but he needed an early morning one so we could get home on Friday evening and make the Cruizer barbeque on Saturday. Eventually, he will be able to pick the times for his appointments, but first, he has to gain a little seniority. He should be getting a lttle bit by Wednesday because he will graduate up to a sophomore after his 11th treatment, and there dhould be aboout 40 guys below him on the list by then. Fortunately, he was able to get in there at 9:30 AM and we got home about 7 PM. Made it to the barbeque and we had a great time. Al goes back Monday morning, but I'm staying here to go to my kidney doc on Tuesday afternoon. Then, bright and early Wednesday, I'm driving my car back to Loma Linda. I'll miss my
sweetie. I'll also miss the Tuesday potluck. Darn! With a little luck, I may get back in time for peanut butter & jelly sandwiches Wednesday night. I guess Al will have to fill in whatever's interesting that might happen on Monday and Tuesday. He'll probably hang with George and Susie,
and maybe Ed and Alice too.
We came home to an entire laundry basket full of mail and newspapers. That really stressed me out. It's bad enough dealing with it on a day to day basis, but after 2 weeks of NO mail, it was overwhelming! I just wanted to burn everything there! I'll be better prepared for that in two weeks when we come home again. Al's been outside fiddling with the lawnmower most of the day. Now he's over hob-nobbing with the next door neighbor. Tomorrow he's planning on working all day in the garden. I imagine he's somewhat overwhelmed too - but he hasn't actually said so.I'm actually looking forward to going back to the peace and quiet - and NO mail in Lomas Linda. I've got to take care of a couple of problems (besides the doctor) first. Gotta fire our financial planner and take care of getting paperwork together so the GAP insurance will finish paying off the loan on the car Al demolished. I'm not looking forward to doing either one.
Al just came back with a mylar balloon (for Mother's DAy) and a frozen strawberry cream pie. Reminds me, we had breakfast this morning with the grandkids, great-grandkids, Jolie & Richard, and Richard's mom & stepdasd.
Also Allie's soon-to-be mother-in-law and her parents. Anyway, gotta go eat this yummy stuff. Ciao!
